Thipsavanh Sibounma is a graduate of Idaho State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, and a double minor in Political Science and History. Currently, she works for ISU Credit Union as their Community Business Development Officer and serves the JRM Foundation as their Charity Relations Coordinator and manages Communications and Social Media for the Idaho Hometown Hero Medal. She is an active member of her community serving on the JRM Foundation events committee and the Pocatello/Japanese Sister Cities Committee, as well as a member of Bannock Civitans, Zonta Club, Businesswomen of Pocatello and the Pocatello/Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce. Thipsavanh is a 2020 graduate of Pocatello/Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. She is a passionate volunteer and can be actively seen helping the Idaho Food Bank, Salvation Army, Pocatello Animal Shelter, the Hunger Project, Valley Mission, various diversity clubs at ISU, and joins the ISUCU employee-volunteer initiative “Teal Team VI”.
Thipsavanh came to America when she was a young child and the experiences of her family as refugees fuel her drive to serve her community. She received the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award by Mayor Brian Blad, of the City of Pocatello, and is a recipient of the 2020 Martin Luther King Jr Humanitarian Award by Idaho State University. In her downtime, she enjoys going to community events, traveling, reading, bicycling, cooking, working out, and being with friends. Most of all she enjoys spending time with her family and her son Jaxon and watching him play sports.
