Ryan Sharp, 2012 Medalist
Ryan David Sharp was born on January 4, 1983, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to David and Lynette Sharp. When he was born, he joined a family of two sisters, Michelle and Jennifer and a brother, Michael. Eight years later, his brother, Matthew, was born. Ryan was the proud and adoring father of Sarah (age 8) and Mia (age 6). There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. Ryan sought to find his place in life, and found his niche when he enlisted in the Army in October 2002. There he flourished and proudly served his country for nine years.
Ryan passed away December 3, 2011 in Landstuhl, Germany of injuries he received in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province. We are so proud of Ryan and the sacrifice he made for us and for our country. We honor all the men and women who serve our country to ensure we continue to enjoy the “Land of the Free; Because of the Brave”. Ryan is remembered for his compassion, his big heart and his love for his country. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing baseball, welding and camping at Henrys Lake.
