“To die as a soldier is as honorable a way to die as a man can. In all of history to die for your country has always been very prestigious, and it is no different today.”
Idaho hero Army Sgt. Blake C. Stephens was the first casualty from Pocatello in the Iraq war. Blake graduated from Century High School in 2000 and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Blake is survived by his wife, Erin, and his parents, Kathleen and Trent Stephens.
In memory, Blake continues to give back to the community through an annual scholarship awarded each fall to a deserving student veteran through the Idaho State University Foundation.
